Solid and poetic as the two secular cypresses that mark out its entrance, Podere Pereto is the realisation of a dream that evolved many years ago, when, as a boy, Franco learned from his father, a farmer, the love for the land and the respect for the harmony of its cycles.
We start in 1991, in Serre di Rapolano, in Tuscany.
Franco and Barbara share the same passion. The aim is to realise an organic agricultural and food processing farm, a microcosm sustainable from an ecological point of view as well as from an economic and social one.
In 1993 the first AIAB organic certification was introduced. It’s the recognition of product’s quality, which comes from the values that Franco has matured during the long paternal apprenticeship and that he daily manages to transmit to his partners: a link with agricultural tradition and the constant dedication in the work of the fields, supported by remarkable entrepreneurial skill.
In 1994 Podere Pereto began a collaboration with the Agricoltori Custodi association to promote the recovery and protection of ancient varieties of seeds of Tuscan origin, precious witness to the wealth of an ancient knowledge that must be protected.
From 1995 to 2001, the raw material began to be transformed and hand manufactured by Podere Pereto.
This represents a fundamental stage for the company that is moving towards greater autonomy, indispensable to guarantee healthy and safe products that respect the environment and consider the health of the consumer.
The real turning point came in 2001 with the construction of an agricultural warehouse equipped with the most innovative and sophisticated machinery.
Years of research and investment lead to the realisation of a short and efficient agricultural food chain guaranteeing the constant monitoring of all phases of working.
The result is an excellent handicraft product, of great nutritional value and of remarkable aesthetic refinement.
After 15 years of certified organic production, the firm is still expanding today. Technological choice has allowed the further widening of the cultivated area.
The product list has moved from the initial 8 items to the current 70.
Several new projects are in the making, among which the construction of a new workshop to process the vegetables.
However, the increase of turnover and the productive capacity have not altered the initial values. Indeed, to emphasise the careful vocation for sustainable development, a photovoltaic system for the independent production of renewable energy has been installed.
Podere Pereto is a company that looks towards the future because it is full of passion which has evolved over time.
